On May 28, 1989, a loud explosion created the Huizhou Port General Terminal. In the directional blasting of 640 ton explosives at the Huizhou Port General Terminal, we boldly broke through traditional design theories and adopted strip charge, small plane, and upright throwing techniques, effectively solving the technical difficulties of blasting in gentle slope terrain, large area, small resistance, and long throwing distance. This enriched and developed China's blasting theory and reached the world's advanced level. It was the largest flat charge blasting in China at that time. This directional blasting flattened a mountain, lifted over 600000 cubic meters of rocks, and threw them into a 240 meter wide bay. The thrown rocks penetrated an area of 84600 cubic meters and a thickness of 8 meters of seabed silt, which was evenly distributed on the seabed. It was the first non dredging method in the world, and the use of directional throwing blasting to move mountains and squeeze silt to build a dock was successful. This project saved the construction unit more than 36 million yuan in investment and advanced the construction period by 6 months. After appraisal, the project quality is excellent This project won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 1992, which was the highest honor in the field of blasting engineering technology at that time. Our current chairman and general manager Zheng Bingxu has also been awarded the honorable title of State Council Special Allowance Expert as a result.
